Happy 1st birthday to my sweet bug, who, ironically enough, as opposed to labor, kept me up all night with a fever. Ahhh parenthood, how very sweet it is, and how very fortunate we are.

Straw cups and other new developments
It happens all of the time, I see some seasoned, well meaning mother out and about and she tells me that they grow up fast, "enjoy your baby while you have her" she says "she won't be a baby forever". I take back all of those shrugs and eye rolls, I am officially drinking the "what the? it seems like she was just born the other day" kool aid. Last week Una cut two teeth, turned nine months old, started day care, decided that she wants to drink all of her liquids out of a straw cup...BY HERSELF, and has let go of one of her naps. The theme of this month of her life will forever be, transition. She is handling it beautifully. Even through teething we are having 11 hours of sleep in a row from her, and smiles all the way. Crawling forward was the new development in the last couple of days, I really can't wait to see what comes next. My seatbelt is fastened little one, let's see what else you have in store for your mama.

Back in the saddle
Well, Una is in daycare and I am back at work. It all happened so fast I can't even believe it. My new job has given me Fridays at home working with Una so things aren't as sketchy and sad as they could be. The job is amazing, Una is freakin' ridiculously amazing, and life goes on. Una is cool with me leaving her at the daycare, she has some separation anxiety sometimes but not too bad overall. A couple of tears when I get home and see her, and the feeling that I am packing to go out of the country every evening are the only things that make it glaringly obvious that our lives have taken this dramatic turn. As time goes on I know it will get easier, for now, we just keep pluggin' along.

Una lately...
Well, two weeks ago I started freelancing with Una at home, adventure indeed. Grandparents have been pouring in to assist in the effort. It's a mixture of chaos and awesomeness: me on my computer, me feeding, me telling grandparents what to do, me having phone meetings locked in my bedroom...well you get the idea. To top it off Una is officially mobile, under the couch, across the room, you name it she's there. I went into her bedroom today to find her in her crib sitting up. This is parenthood!

There's a new sound around the house
Una has become a fast pro at this little trick, and now she's always doing it. We think it's pretty freakin' cute.

Una candle
This was taken the night before Una was born, My friend Liz sent this to me yesterday. That little red candle in the front was lit as soon as I went into labor with Una, we passed them out at the shower. Liz decided to go for the gusto and bring in the big guns with the white ones too, thanks Liz! apparently it worked.

Una sits up, brilliant!
Of course there is still some toppling over (especially when spitting on ones self) but she basically has it down.

OCF '10
Well that's it, another OCF on the books. There was a million new babies, lots of sun, and hippies galore. I was so nervous about nap times, bedtimes, and feedings out there in the hippie wild but after one day it all went out the window and we just concentrated on having fun. What a wonderful time. Una met so many members of our community, family, and friends. She soaked up the attention like a little baby sponge. Can't wait until next year already!!
